Detection and evaluation of lung cancer

There is a common notion that a patient suffering from lung cancer has to undergo some kind of operation or the other to get rid of this disease. But the truth is that, operation is not always required and decided only on checking the stage of the disease spread in patient’s body. One such option for outpatient treatment is the endoscopic biopsy known as Bronchoscopy performed with the help of CT scan. An injection containing anesthesia is given to the patient for sedation that makes them unconscious and numbs the skin. The patient is sent into the CT scanner where continuous scan shots are taken and stored for analysis. Once the scans are over, the doctors identify the exact spot of the tumor in the patient’s body.
